Global tech giant, Huawei has announced a date extension for the 2021 Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest (Apps UP).  This is a premier global contest for mobile application developers. As you may already know, Huawei Technologies is a Chinese multinational technology company that designs, develops, and sells telecommunications equipment and consumer electronics. This competition aims to attract established and emerging talent present in the application development space, and showcase their efforts in creating simple, smart, and innovative digital experiences that contribute to a digital, intelligent world. These developers have until 5th September 2021 to submit their participation.

Why join the contest? This contest will allow participants of the 2021 Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest (Apps UP) to join a wealthy community of over 4.5 million registered developers from around the world, as well as 50 industry experts who will form the panel of judges for the competition. The Huawei Apps UP competition is dedicated to inspiring global developers to leverage the open capabilities of HUAWEI Core to create innovative Apps, encourage joint innovation with global Application developers, and reconstruct the future of technology.

Apps UP 2021 features a total reward of US$200,000 in cash for each of the five participating regions, with individual prize amounts ranging from US$3,000 to US$15,000. In addition to the cash prizes, developers will uncover valuable benefits such as development tools and workshops, support groups and mentorship from Huawei experts, and the opportunity for winning apps to be featured on HUAWEI App Gallery. Wow!! The competition also aims to encourage developers to bring their all-scenario, smart life experience to Huawei end users in over 170 countries and regions, reaching over 650 million Huawei users globally, and to give them the chance to compete against global peers. In addition, developers will establish credibility by receiving certificates upon completing a series of workshops, training modules, and online courses on the contest website.

With the recent introduction of HMS Core 6.0 that addresses pain points and provides developers with Huawei’s advanced technologies in media, graphics, telecommunications, and other fields, creators can now enjoy features such as volumetric fog, an enhanced AI-powered networking kit, AV Pipeline Kit, and a 3D Modelling Kit that offers AI-based capabilities. The competition also allows Participants to learn more about HMS Core, a powerful ecosystem that enables developers to create smooth user experiences and supports implementing safe and seamless features such as secure sign-in, in-app payments and downloads, ad placement, alerts, real-time positioning, and cloud backup.

In a statement, the company said, “So far, the competition has received over 115 entries from the Middle East and Africa with innovative solutions from categories such as lifestyle, gaming, productivity tools, and social.
