WhatsApp is continuously evolving from its conventional messaging operations to serve as a tool for businesses and professional services. The brainchild of Facebook, WhatsApp started with the inception of a voice chat feature and eventually introduced a free Voice over IP calling feature.
But the evolution did not stop there. The app further integrated with cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive, facilitating users to attach documents directly besides offering backup for their chats too.
Recently, it was reported that video calling might soon be incorporated, providing a richer communication experience for WhatsApp’s one billion users. Another noteworthy advancement is the default end-to-end encryption it introduced for all its conversations, enhancing privacy for its users.

Now, WhatsApp is preparing to launch a new, albeit less staggering feature – the “Quote” feature. According to the website 9to5Google, this feature would allow users to copy messages either as plain text or as quoted text, similar to the functionality available in Skype conversations.
Although it might seem less significant in simple one-on-one chats, this feature could prove incredibly beneficial in group discussions. Moreover, when there’s a flurry of messages in a one-on-one chat, this feature could come in handy, allowing users to quote someone for a more defined context. However, it’s essential to understand that merely entering the beta does not activate the feature. Its full activation is presumably still regulated by a server-side switch.
While these new integrations and features are exciting, let’s also delve into three lesser-known yet cool WhatsApp tricks:
1. Bold a Chat: Wish to emphasize specific words or phrases in your conversation? Simply add an asterisk (*) before and after the desired words or phrases. For instance, “*TechBooky is cool*.”
2. Italics: If you prefer using a subtler emphasis, italics might be your go-to. Add an underscore (_) before and after your chosen words or phrases. For example, “_TechBooky is great_.”
3. Strikethrough: Want to show content changes or denote irrelevant information? Use a tilde ~ before and after the words or phrases you’d like to strike. e.g. “~I love TechBooky~.”
These tricks might add a dash of creativity and clarity to your chats, enhancing your overall WhatsApp experience.
