A recent report by the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) has discovered that there are at least 40 countries with a private network spectrum license using the LTE or 5G network, with the study categorizing 311 private mobile networks deployments domiciled around the world.

With the advent of the modern technology of the 5G, which competes with the speed of light, it is gratifying at least to see how citizens of these countries have adopted broadband cellular networks.

The data in the report spots manufacturing as an early adopter of local area private networks, showing 67 licensed companies from the start of the year 2021 getting involved in the deployment of Local Area Network (LAN)

According to authors of the report, mining comes second, with ports actively deploying LAN private networks. The automobile subsector leads the pack within the manufacturing sector in terms of private network investment and adoption.

It is hence no surprise as the automotive companies account for 26.9% of the 67 identified licensed manufacturing companies that are involved in deployments.

President of the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), who authored the report, Joe Barret in a statement explained further the synergy between the mobile network vendors and the system integrators:

“The private mobile networks market is home to a wide range of service providers, including equipment/technology vendors, mobile network operators, systems integrators and the private network end-users, some of whom also take responsibility for installing or operating their own infrastructure,”

Barret posited that the association has taken note of at least 38 equipment vendors involved in the LTE, or 5G based private mobile networks in addition to identifying 63 public network operators involved in up to 106 projects within themselves.

GSA says the association will continuously track and report for these broad systems of vendors, operators, and vertical markets, its members and the industry as a whole.

Based on available, the association has a database of private 4G and 5G networks around the world in a bid to improve information about the market.

GSA further says its database has specific information on each of the companies licensed to deploy the 4G (LTE) or 5G private mobile networks to allow analysis on the evolution of the market, with constant database update. It however notes that the database may exclude those who may have deployed alternative technologies.

It is believed that more private mobile network vendors will spring up to allow the world align with the “speed of light” broad based mobile technology.
