Free 15GB Storage with Newly Unveiled Samsung Cloud: A Rival to iCloud?

This morning, the tech community held its breath as they anticipated the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7. Today, Samsung indeed unveiled the new gadget as previously promoted, an event marked with eager anticipation. However, beyond the glitz and glamour of the new phone reveal, another surprise announcement took center stage.

Unexpectedly, Samsung introduced the Samsung Cloud, a brand-new service offering online storage that users can leverage for backup and restoration processes. This fresh innovation from the technology powerhouse is reminiscent of Apple’s iCloud platform and seems set to rival its dominance in the arena. In an aggressive move against competitors, Samsung outright trumps Apple’s free 5GB storage, offering users on the Galaxy Note 7 a massive 15GB of free storage on Samsung Cloud.

Samsung is yet to disclose the pricing scheme for the storage services beyond the complimentary 15GB. Yet, given industry standards set by services such as Google Drive and iCloud, we can anticipate a relatively modest fee. As a point of reference, Google Drive offers a budget-friendly $24 annual subscription for 100GB and a $9.99 monthly subscription encompassing 1TB of storage.

The confirmation of Samsung Cloud also indicates the giant tech firm’s further foray into the exponentially-growing cloud and big data market. This development comes after the recent acquisition of Joyent, a top-tier American cloud company, further solidifying Samsung’s strategic move into this high-revenue sector.

For its part, Samsung Cloud is more than a service – it reflects Samsung’s ambition to carve out a significant portion of the cloud storage and big data fields, as well as a much-welcomed addition to Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users. With this move, Samsung continues to solidify its standing as one of the leading innovators in the tech industry, a title the global tech giant is not ready to relinquish anytime soon.

Stay tuned for more coverage on Samsung Cloud and the potential shifts in the online storage arena that it may instigate.
