9mobile Chief Executive, Alan Sinfield, announced his support towards Lagos state infrastructural development — 9mobile push-support Lagos state’s government proposed “smart city initiative coming up soon.
During the Lagos State Economic Summit dubbed “Ehingbeti 2021,” Sinfield focused on the “Digital Transformation Solutions for Smart Cities” section of the summit.
He highlighted the significance of developing Africa largest commercial zone into a smart city — 9mobile will provide the necessary resources to actualise the Lagos state’s government proposed master-plan.
“At 9mobile, we are continually innovating, and smart city, smart building, and other IoT solutions will be delivered through the deployment of technologies and infrastructure,” 9mobile CEO Alan Sinfield said.
Also, Sinfield noted how the Lagos state government could be more resourceful, cooperating treasonably with a telecommunications stakeholder.
9mobile can serve as the backbone to the “critical building block for the delivery of a smart city. It supports the delivery of digital transformation and inclusion and underpins how the goals of full financial inclusion for everyone will be realised,” Sinfield added.
According to 9mobile’s CEO, the “service management element” is another critical factor to actualising the envisioned smart city in the centre of excellence. “We should never lose sight that once envisioned, developed, and implemented, nothing ever works well or is sustainable without the necessary support teams to maintain and keep things working.”
Conforming to Sinfield, “the real need is to focus on developing the skills and support framework” are another critical minor factor that could jeopardise Lagos’ future.
9mobile’s responsiveness in the Nigerian telecoms industry is enough to guarantee for the Lagos state government to allow 9mobile to lead its way in transforming the entire city of excellence into the Silicon Valley of Africa.
The telecom company intends to use its resources to enhance creativity that will further expand ICT-based operations and “sandboxes for entrepreneurs to develop their ideas for the future.”
Sinfield also noted the essentials to run a smart city like Lagos state — data mining requires large data, the core source that powers a smart city. Storing and profiling data is the backbone of modern technology, which leaves 9mobile as the perfect client for the job.
The adequacy of digital utilisation bolters the automation of the proposed smart city to the “extent to which humans can participate and provide real-time data input to the collective data feeding automated machine learning.”
Other tech-based elements such as sensors — efficient sensors are the major tool to commence the projected centre of excellence transformation into Africa’s technology hub.
