MTN Secures Tier III Certification for Data Centre

MTN Nigeria announced that the Uptime Institute has awarded its Dabengwa Data Centre in Lagos Tier III Certification for Constructed Facility. The company’s goal is to improve digital infrastructure in the most populated country in Africa.

This is an important milestone for MTN Nigeria’s with dedication to provide cutting-edge digital solutions for Africa’s advancement has been reached with the company’s Tier III Certification for Constructed Facility (TCCF) for its Dabengwa Data Centre. The Uptime Institute was the source of the highly sought-after certification.

Constructed using 96 prefabricated containers in its initial phase, the facility opened in July and is among the biggest prefabricated modular data centres in Nigeria. It combines hybrid cloud capabilities and AI-powered energy optimisation to increase enterprise clients’ dependability.

The Centre’s future-ready design incorporated strong hybrid cloud capabilities and AI-driven energy optimisation, guaranteeing enterprise clients exceptional performance and flexibility.

“In keeping with international best practices, this certification is a testament to the hard work, strategic focus, and collaboration across our teams and partners,” said Karl Toriola, the chief executive of MTN Nigeria, in a statement on Thursday.

In a statement, he added, “It reflects our commitment to building top-tier infrastructure that supports Nigeria’s digital future, and we will uphold the same high standards of quality, resilience, and compliance to deliver even greater value to our stakeholders.”

The accreditation, which is a widely accepted standard for dependability, guarantees several separate power and cooling pathways, allowing for routine maintenance without interfering with services. It is anticipated that Tier III facilities will provide 99.982 percent availability, or no more than 1.6 hours of downtime per year.

Dabengwa is now one of just four facilities in Nigeria to possess both certifications, after MTN’s previous achievement of the Tier III Certification for Design Documentation.

The Dabengwa Data Centre, the first technical facility of MTN Nigeria to be certified, is a significant advancement in the organization’s infrastructure strategy, bolstering enterprise market positioning, promoting business continuity, and improving reliability.

This achievement also serves as a reminder of MTN’s dedication to its Ambition 2025 Strategy, which places a high priority on robust digital infrastructure as the cornerstone of Nigeria’s expanding digital economy.
