Africa Data Centre

The Africa Data Centres reports commencing the initial phase of its expansion campaign to deposit another branch of its existence in the extension of the continent. The African Data Center recently acquired land in West Africa where the next data centre facilities will be established in the business district of Ghana’s capital state, Accra.

The Africa Data Centres announcement revealed that the Accra data centre facility will be sited in the prestigious trade fair arena that was previously the significant showground for locales in the area. Accra is about to be established with the sixth data centre facility based in the previous commercial arena within the Ghanaian community.

Just as the central business district of Accra is the selected venue to establish a piece of the African Data Center that expands to Ghana hailing from South Africa to impact economic innovation in the West African tech landscape. The upcoming data centre in the Accra business district will round up the initial phase of construction within a year or twelve months time frame.

“The establishment of Africa Data Centre’s new 10MW data centre, in the heart of Accra, is a significant step towards bridging the infrastructure gap, and further developing our digital economy.” Ghana’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo confirmed the data centre establishment “and the Government’s drive at digitizing all sectors of the economy will enable us to increase our capacity to access digital services, and help even more to attract foreign direct investment into our economy.”

The data centre facility Africa Data Centres prepares to establish in Accra is a significant development for the distribution of digital inclusion that is expected to rub off on Ghana’s GDP standard. The most prominent recent addition includes the 104-rack MainOne (MDX-I) data centre facility established in Apollonia City, Ghana.

The MDX-I data centre was completed in 2021 after the month that celebrates Valentine’s holiday with TIA 942 and Uptime Tier III. However, the Africa Data Centre establishment in the commercial district in Ghana will be remarkable to rival other pre-existing data centers present in the West African tech landscape.

While the Africa Data Centre establishment in Ghana is the sixth high-end infrastructure in the country, it will also be marked as the second data center facility Africa Data Centre will have to operate in West Africa. Nigeria was the initial gateway Africa Data Centre used in penetrating the West African digital landscape with facility establishment.

Nigeria has more high-end data centre facilities in the country than other African countries. Still, the Africa Data Centre consented to collaborate with the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to further its plans to build facilities in Africa’s significant digital hubs including Angola, Morocco, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Egypt, Zambia, Kenya, Senegal and Rwanda.
