Apple has officially launched the AirPods Pro 3, the most significant refresh in the product’s three-year evolution. Priced at $249 and available for preorder today with shipping set to begin September 19, these earbuds pack a wealth of new features that blend sound, health, and AI-driven convenience in a sleek package.
At the top of the list is a heart rate sensor Apple’s smallest yet embedded inside the earbud using photoplethysmography (PPG). It shines invisible infrared light 256 times per second to measure blood flow, enabling real-time heart rate tracking during workouts. This pairs with Apple’s new Workout Buddy experience on iPhone that delivers personalized fitness insights without needing an Apple Watch.
Audio gets a serious upgrade too: Apple is calling it the “world’s best in-ear Active Noise Cancellation.” That’s thanks to a new multiport acoustic design and foam-infused ear tips, offering up to 2× more ANC than the previous generation. The result is deeper bass, wider soundstage, and improved voice clarity in calls, plus a 67% longer Transparency mode battery life.
A futuristic feature comes in the form of Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence. When enabled, AirPods Pro 3 can translate spoken language in real time into your language through your paired iPhone—making cross-language conversations feel seamless and natural.
Fit and durability see thoughtful refinement. Apple says they modelled earbuds using over 10,000 3D ear scans, resulting in a more secure and stable fit available in five sizes of foam-infused ear tips, including a new XXS. With IP57 water and sweat resistance, these are clearly built for workouts and everyday wear.
Battery life gets a boost too: up to 8 hours of listening with ANC enabled (33% more than its predecessor) and up to 10 hours in Transparency mode. Plus, with the updated charging case, you can enjoy up to 30 hours of juice.
Apple’s commitment to sustainability shines through as well: each AirPod contains 40% recycled content, with the charging case using 100% recycled cobalt and a paper packaging made from 100% fibre-based materials. Features like Conversation Boost, Hearing Protection, and extended Transparency mode further enhance accessibility and audio wellness.
