Airtel Nigeria Debuts Cloud-based Commercial Data Centre In Lagos

The commercial data centre is backed by EPI certification for high-end digital inclusion suitable for government and individuals seeking technology solutions.

The Nigerian telecommunications industry continues to stretch the national technology sector whereby another telecom giant, Airtel Nigeria has reportedly influenced the Lagos State commercial space with the state-of-the-art Tier 3 Cloud-based data centre. This completed Airtel Nigeria’s mission to fulfill its digital inclusion to further cyber security solutions with unrivaled cybersecurity for servers and other cloud-based technology solutions for government and individuals.

The Tier 3 data centre by Airtel Nigeria is established with high-end technology endorsed by the world’s pioneer data centre certification entity the EPI. The EPI then awards Airtel’s state-of-the-art Tier 3 cloud-based commercial data centre with ANSI/TIA-942 — this proves the cloud-based commercial data centre is built with high-end technology. For context, Airtel’s commercial data centre is built to run in any kind of weather conditions — its efficiency is durable for backup systems — it is conducive to storing enormous data in the cloud.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Hakeem Fahm was also present during the launch of Airtel’s commercial data centre. Fahm highlighted the importance of establishing the commercial cloud-based data centre which makes Lagos a certified technology hub or a commercial hub roaming with technology. Fahm also commended Airtel Nigeria for its huge investment to develop Nigeria’s commercial zone technology-wise.

Fahm commends the management of “Airtel Nigeria for their impactful contributions in Lagos State and the country at large, thanks to their innovative drive in Technology.” Fahm noted that Airtel’s commercial data centre aligns with the Lagos State technology initiative and transition of the state into a smart city. “This data centre has further contributed to placing the State as a technology hub in the country at large.”

Airtel Nigeria CEO, Surendran Chemmenkotil, also shared insights into his company’s commitment to Nigeria’s commercial capital that has developed into a technology hub overtime — with Airtel’s technology resources inclusive. The Tier 3 commercial cloud-based data centre serves as unrestricted access for government parastatal, individual businesses, and other organizations or entrepreneurs to access premium cloud-based technology.

“With over 20 years of extensive telecoms, technological and consumer-empowering operations in Nigeria, we are best positioned to support businesses and government establishments with an incomparable data centre that will help advance commerce and ultimately expand the nation’s economy, driving growth and prosperity for entrepreneurs and consumers,” Chemmenkotil revealed the high-end digital inclusion Airtel Nigeria established for Lagos state digital growth.

“Airtel Nigeria is inspiring and pioneering a new wave in Nigeria’s data centre landscape as we offer a compelling and affordable data centre to both large enterprises and small and medium scale businesses. Through our data centre, businesses will benefit from uninterrupted power and hyper-secure storage for servers and data transmission equipment for various sizes of private and public sector establishments,” Airtel Nigeria business director, Ogo Ofomata, said.

Ofomata continued to highlight the importance of the cloud-based state-of-the-art commercial data centre that is expected to rival the Microsoft million dollars African Development Centre built in the same localization for digital inclusion and solutions.

Airtel’s cloud-based commercial data centre has officially commenced operations which Techbooky.africa suggests the operation commencement was in fear of the potential cyber attack Airtel Nigeria nearly succumbed via the telecom social media. Nonetheless, Airtel Nigeria has continued to collaborate with other technology-inclined companies such as Konga to bolster Nigeria’s development into a technology hub in Africa.
