Amid Ongoing Crypto Market Decline, America’s Fast-food Company Chipotle Is Now Accepting Cryptocurrency As A Means Of Payment

American fast-food franchise Chipotle is now accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of payment through the digital payments platform Flexa. Thanks to this partnership, Chipotle will be accepting cryptocurrency at any of its locations in the US. Digital payments platform Flexa shared the announcement via a medium post. “Today, we’re delighted to announce that Chipotle is now accepting digital currency payments exclusively through Flexa. Now you can spend your bitcoin and other digital currencies from any Flexa-enabled app for burritos, bowls, and more at any Chipotle restaurant in the United States—making Chipotle the latest merchant to accept digital currency payments with Flexa.”

The announcement comes amid a crypto market decline that has seen billions of dollars wiped off. Chipotle is the latest company to accept crypto payments using Flexa’s solution. Currently, Flexa supports major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other coins such as Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, Cardano, etc.

Customers must download the Gemini or SPEDN app, which stores digital assets, to be able to use Flexa for in-store purchases and be able to buy food at Chipotle. Chipotle will be giving 10% off to customers who make their next purchase with any digital currency in a Flexa-enabled app. This is to encourage the use of as well as celebrate the new payment option.

Although cryptocurrencies may not be in the best place right now, their use and rate of adoption continue to grow. Their use is beginning to surpass just trading and into payments for everyday goods and services. People already use cryptocurrency to pay for food and it is expected that in the future, cryptocurrencies become a mainstream payment option.

Explaining the benefits of the partnership between Flexa and Chipotle, Flexa co-founder Trevor Filter said that “Chipotle benefits from reaching customers where they are through the new payment methods they want to use. And, at the same time, Chipotle’s customers benefit from greater payment flexibility, faster checkout, and a more seamless experience at the fast-casual restaurants they already love.”
