The 2020 release of the first-gen silicon-powered MacBook Pro by Apple elicited ‘applauding’ reactions from a large section of the populace and less than a year after; the American company is coming with a follow up.

The release of the pro-focused laptop last year had some limitations, with the lines not entirely clear between the M1 version of the Pro and Air and it now appears Apple is set to rectify that lapse.

The redesigned version of the MacBook Pro draws a much clearer line between the system and its perennial favourite thin-and-light sibling, effectively resolving some of the latent issues in the earlier release.

The new MacBook system laced with the new M1 Pro and Max, souped up versions of the chip the company unveiled at today’s event. Apple further announced that the 10-core chip will allow up to 3x the memory bandwidth of the M1, adorned with a 16-core GPU. The Max chip gives GPU up to 32 cores.

Entire New Redesign

The new models, featuring new built-in fans for high performance applications that may normally cause heating up, with 14 and 16-inch displays comes with an array of new redesigns. The new update also removed the middling-received Touch Bar, with full-function keys in its place.

With the middling-received Touch Bar being removed, Apple infused another old favourite, the Magsafe.

In the picture above, there is a third-gen proprietary charging port, but then users will be able to continue powering their devices through the Thunderbolt/USB-C ports.

That’s not all, it has three ports: Three Thunderbolt 4, HDMI and an SDXC card slot, to be exact.

Reduced Bezel

Ideally, a bezel in lay man terms is the border around the screen of a PC. In many instances, too much of a bezel in a gadget reduces the sleekness and Apple is just out to make the redesigned version become sleeker as there was an obvious reduction in the screen bezel.

Upgraded Camera

The camera has been refined and upgraded for these teleconferencing days at 1080p, with an improvement over the longstanding mode, coupled with a larger sensor and wider aperture.

Screen Size Resolution and Improved Audio

The redesigned version has the 16-inch (well, 16.2″) mode having a 3456 x 2240 resolution, while the 14-inch has a 3024 x 1964 resolution. Peak brightness is 1600 nits and the refresh rate is 120 Hz. Coming together with this new screen is a vastly improved audio, covering a six-speaker system, with four woofers and two tweeters.

Improved Battery Life and faster charging

Having a durable battery life for your PC can be refreshing, especially in situations where power supply may not be constantly accessible to charge your gadget.

Apple with new design has upgraded the battery life to support up to 21 hours of video playback, by Apple’s count.

Pricing

With the new features, it appears this would with users having to part  away with substantial funds with it being priced at 4.7 pounds and 3.5 pounds, respectively.

The price of the14-inch starts at $1,999, while the 16-inch runs $2,499. The Max version of the M1 is available as an upgrade, adding an additional $200 for the 24-core GPU and $400 for the 36-core version.

In all of these, the redesigned MacBook Pro is available for pre-order today, the 19th of October 2021, while it would be available for shipping by next week.
