Apple Music 5.2 beta for Android adds a number of significant features that were first shown in the developer preview of iOS 26.4 with three new features earlier last week.
Some of the important new features added are
- Playlist Playground “creates a new playlist with just an idea in seconds” by utilising generative AI. It is accessible from the Library tab’s upper-right corner. It uses basic language suggestions like “chill morning coffee” or “90s hip-hop party” to create personalised 25-song playlists while using the new feature, Playlist Playground, an AI-powered application. Users can also select unique cover art and tweak results with follow-up suggestions.
Users can make a playlist without AI using the upper part of this new UI. You can type a prompt on the bottom sheet, and Apple Music provides “Suggested Songs” and “New Playlist Ideas”.
- Album & Playlist Redesign: A new “fullscreen” immersive user interface in which the tracklist’s background colour changes dynamically to match the artwork on the album or playlist.
- Concert Discovery: An “Upcoming Concerts” feature has been added to artist biographies, offering direct connections for ticket purchases, venue details, and dates of local performances.
- Bulk Playlist Management: You can add a single song to several playlists at once by using a new selection button.
- Redesigned Profile Screen: A simplified user interface that makes it easier to access basic tasks and account settings.
The makeover of the albums and playlists will come next. This “Full-page artwork brings your music to life” by incorporating the track list and additional recommendations below into the themed background.
Shuffle is no longer a pill, and the Play button is now in the middle. It now appears as a circle on the left, with ‘Download’ on the other side. The Share menu appears in the corner. For one-handed use, these button modifications are a welcome improvement.
Lastly, you may see an “Upcoming Concerts” badge at the top of artist pages. To view “All Upcoming Concerts”, scroll down beneath the Top Videos carousel.
These upgrades are available in the most recent Google Play Store beta version of Apple Music. Keep in mind that Apple Intelligence models might be necessary to fully utilise Playlist Playground while the feature is live. The stable release of Apple Music 5.2 will coincide with iOS 26.4; sign up for the beta here or through the Google Play Store listing.
In the meantime, the bottom bar of Apple TV for Android now features a “Formula 1” tab to join MLS.
