The long-awaited Android Oreo, officially launched last week, has certainly brought delicious new features to the tech table. This includes tools designed to improve usability and enhance the user’s overall experience. In case you missed it, one innovative feature is the ‘Notification Dot’. This clever addition enables users to access their notifications without the necessity of pulling down the top of their screen. For all the chatty and music-loving users among us, Android Oreo is equipped with battery life-saving features, making sure that your device lasts longer than before.

This impressive upgrade was proudly announced by Google in New York and will promptly be rolled out globally to smartphones and other devices. Android Oreo, alternatively known as Android 8, is anticipated to be introduced to specific devices this September.

It is interesting to note that many smartphones still operate on Android M software, which was unveiled back in 2015. Recent statistics suggest that as of August 2017, Android Nougat 7.0 runs on about 12.3% of devices. Android 7.1 is said to power just 1.2% of smart devices while Android Marshmallow, and versions 5.0 and 5.1 of Android Lollipop, account for 32.3%, 21.8%, and 7.4% respectively.

With the official introduction of Android Oreo, many device owners will naturally question if their smartphone will support this exciting software upgrade. So here is the list of devices that have been confirmed to be powered by Android Oreo:

– Google Pixel
– Nexus 5X
– Nokia 8
– Essential PH-1, and others.

Every single Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus player, and Pixel C tablet will be able to enjoy the new Android 8. For users already utilising the beta version of Android Oreo, the final build of Android 8 can be manually downloaded and installed by simply going into their device’s settings.

As disclosed by HMD Global, all of its new smartphones are scheduled to join the Android Oreo tally, which includes Nokia’s 3, 5, 6, and 8 models.

Moreover, Essential’s PH-1 mobile devices, brought to you by Android’s co-founder Andy Rubin, will also receive this delightful update. The PH-1, which boasts an impressive 13MP rear camera, a 5.7 inch QHD screen, and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, users will be able to experience Android Oreo soon.

Furthermore, an array of other manufacturers including Samsung, Huawei, General Mobile, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Sony, and OnePlus, are also reportedly on the list of smartphones due to upgrade to Android Oreo 8.0.

Overall, this considerable upgrade is not just released for Google’s very own Pixel, but for an extensive range of other devices. So, whether you’re a Google enthusiast, a Nokia lover, or someone else, get ready to bite into the latest sweet treat that Android has to offer: Android Oreo.
