Apple Hasn’t Released the iOS 26 Public Beta Yet – How to Get Ready

Correctio: 23 July, 17:45 BST: Apple has not yet released the iOS 26 public beta. Our earlier version said the rollout had begun; we will publish a fresh article as soon as the beta appears. We regret this error

Apple hasn’t officially released the iOS 26 public beta today—but it’s imminent. Developer Beta 4 landed yesterday, and Apple typically follows with the public seed within a day or two. When the toggle finally appears, anyone enrolled in the free Beta Software Program will see the update under Settings → General → Software Update → Beta Updates. That download will open the door to the shimmering Liquid Glass UI, layered animations, AI‑powered Live Translation and notification summaries, plus Apple’s expanded on‑device intelligence toolkit.

Beta 4 refined transparency across backgrounds, added dynamic notification tinting, and reintroduced an AI news‑summary splash screen. Expect that polish to carry straight into the public build and then tighten further before the final fall 2025 release.

Before you rush to install, prep smartly

  • Back up first (iCloud or Finder) on any iPhone 11 or newer.
  • Brace for bugs and battery dip. Early betas can drain faster and crash more.

  • Feature caveat: Some AI tricks—like full Genmoji creation—need the A17/A18‑class Neural Engine (iPhone 15 Pro and up). Older phones get the new look, not the whole brain.

  • Device Eligibility
  • Public beta supports: iPhone 11 and newer.
  • Full Apple Intelligence suite supported on: iPhone 15 Pro and newer.
  • Dropped from compatibility: iPhone XS/XS Max and XR (A12 Bionic) no longer eligible .
  • How to Install
  1. Enrol in the Apple Beta Software Program via beta.apple.com.
  2. On your iPhone: Settings → General → Software Update → Beta Updates.
  3. Verify your device is backed up (iCloud or Finder) before tapping “Download and Install” .
  • Beta Caveats
  • Expect bugs, battery quirks and app instability.
  • Notification Summaries, disabled in earlier builds, are back with user toggles and banners noting possible inaccuracies .
  • Some real-time AI features won’t appear on older devices, even if the beta installs.
  • This is  a rare opportunity to be months ahead of the official autumn launch, you can test Apple’s next-generation interface and AI depths first-hand. Just go to Settings, opt into the public beta, and prepare to explore Liquid Glass, live translations, smarter notifications, a revamped Games hub, and enhanced CarPlay—all while standing watch for bugs that Apple still needs to fix.
