Apple has refreshed its external display line-up with the introduction of two new models; the next-generation Studio Display and an all-new Studio Display XDR, bringing major performance, visual and audio upgrades to its desktop ecosystem.

Both displays are designed to cater to creative professionals, designers, developers, and users who demand high-fidelity visuals and responsiveness for workflows like video editing, photography, and 3D design.

The updated Studio Display now features a 27-inch 5K Retina panel with 120 Hz ProMotion, offering smoother motion across macOS UI, scrolling, and compatible apps.
ProMotion dynamic refresh adapts up to 120 Hz for fluid responsiveness while conserving power when high refresh isn’t needed.

Apple also enhanced the display’s camera and audio systems. The built-in 1080p Ultra Thin Camera supports Centre Stage for video calls, while a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio delivers richer sound for music, video, and conferencing.

Connectivity includes Thunderbolt 4, USB-C ports, and support for accessory pairing via MagSafe Display Connector, streamlining desktop setups while reducing cable clutter.

The all-new Studio Display XDR steps up to 6K resolution and integrates a mini-LED backlight system for deeper blacks and higher contrast compared to traditional LED panels.
With 120 Hz ProMotion and high brightness targets, it’s aimed at professionals who need precise colour accuracy and smooth motion especially in HDR video workflows and animation.

The Studio Display XDR also features an upgraded 12-mic array and enhanced Spatial Audio speakers, offering more immersive sound without external peripherals.

Both displays share a slim, aluminium-finished design with adjustable stands, VESA mount compatibility, and optional nano-texture glass to help reduce glare in high-ambient-light setups.

Apple emphasised that these displays are engineered to complement its Mac line-up, including the new M5-powered MacBook models and iMac systems, enabling seamless spatial computing workflows across macOS.

The standard Studio Display starts at $1,599, while the premium Studio Display XDR begins at $2,999. Both models are available for pre-order now, with shipments expected later this spring.

Available configurations include optional nano-texture glass and multiple stand choices to suit different desk
