Ticketmaster and Apple Music have teamed up by partnering to power the Concert Discovery function, the company revealed earlier on Tuesday. The goal of this integration is to make it easier for users to find live music events according to their listening preferences.
This partnership between Apple Music and Ticketmaster comes as an effort to close the gap between streaming and live attendance. Also, a new collaboration with Ticketmaster is to fuel its event discovery function. Because of this connectivity, users may find live events right within the app that are customized to their unique listening preferences and location data.
As the first ticketing site to link with Apple Music, Ticketmaster enables fans to locate local events and concerts based on their personal taste in music. A direct link to Ticketmaster is now included in every event listing on the music streaming app, making ticket purchases simple.
Through a number of features in the app, such as the homepage carousel that highlights local concerts related to their listening preferences, a dedicated Concerts tab for perusing events, and artist pages that show concert listings along with a badge indicating when an artist is on tour, Apple Music users can now investigate ticket options.
Push alerts will also notify fans when their favourite performers are in the area.
This is an extension of the collaboration, as Ticketmaster already powers other event listings throughout the Apple ecosystem, such as Maps, Spotlight Search, Photos, and Shazam.
For example, users can find and buy tickets for forthcoming shows when they use Shazam to identify music. Ticketmaster events are readily displayed in the results of artist searches on iOS devices. Using Apple Maps, users can look for upcoming events at any location that sells Ticketmaster tickets.
Additionally, with the release of iOS 16, Apple Photos gives fans the ability to revisit previous concerts through their photos and videos, directly connecting them to those artists’ forthcoming events.
In terms of concert discovery, this is Apple Music’s most recent effort to stay competitive. It introduced a feature in 2023 that let users peruse and hear the set lists of their favourite performers who were on tour. Additionally, the business provides carefully chosen itineraries that highlight the best live music venues in well-known cities on Apple Music and Apple Maps.
Following Spotify’s partnership with SeatGeek, one of Apple Music’s main competitors, the connection with Ticketmaster allows music lovers to browse ticket links while perusing an artist’s website or future tour dates.
Ticketmaster has already collaborated with rivals like SoundCloud and YouTube to streamline ticket sales.
In a different development, the U.S. Justice Department revealed earlier this month that, in response to an antitrust case, it had reached a tentative settlement with Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation. Live Nation and Ticketmaster have dominated U.S. ticket sales and venue reservations since their 2010 merger. However, the process of buying tickets has come under investigation, and consumers have voiced their displeasure with dynamic pricing strategies that can greatly raise prices.
The integration adds always-on concert placements across Apple Music, including a homepage carousel of shows tied to listening history, a dedicated Concerts tab for browsing by city or genre, tour listings on artist pages, one-tap Ticketmaster purchasing, and push notifications for local tour announcements.
Ticketmaster’s integration extends across Apple services, Shazam, Apple Maps, Spotlight Search, and Photos, bringing concert discovery into music identification, venue browsing, system search, and event photos.
Additionally, Apple and Bandsintown have teamed up to increase the app’s global concert listings. iOS 26.4 will include these changes.
