The most recent iteration of the tvOS 18 operating system, which was published in September of last year, was released by Apple today. Available for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD devices, tvOS 18.4 was launched by Apple two months after tvOS 18.3.

The numerous software upgrades, including iOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, and others, have recently been made available on all of Apple’s platforms. Despite being a very small upgrade, tvOS 18.4 offers several pleasant improvements to the Apple TV app. What’s new is this.

The Apple TV app is probably one of your most utilized applications if you have an Apple TV 4K.

The TV app, which was created by Apple, is the preferred program for tvOS users, however Netflix and YouTube probably complete the top three apps.

Additionally, Apple has improved the user interface in tvOS 18.4.

The featured title carousel is one of the most obvious modifications.

The Apple TV’s Settings app may be used to download tvOS 18.4. To obtain the updated software, open Settings and select System > Software Update. Owners of Apple TVs with automatic software updates enabled will automatically receive an update to tvOS 18.4.

Three significant modifications have been made to the featured carousel at the top of the TV app’s interface:

  • A sizable “plus” button makes it simple to add titles to your watchlist.
  • There is a large “i” button next to it that leads to the information page for a title.
  • Lastly, information about a show’s premiere date is now much more visible.

All of these may seem insignificant, but during the beta testing phase, they made some excellent adjustments that improved the app’s usability.

Additionally, there are some changed fonts and icons if you scroll down in the TV app’s layout.

Some content areas, for instance, have unique new icon designs. These consist of Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+, Sports, and Movies Spotlight.

While none of the aforementioned changes are really significant, it’s encouraging to see Apple making design improvements to the Apple TV app as its user base grows.

Every time a new version of tvOS is released, Apple updates its tvOS support document, which contains the complete release notes for the operating system.

Additionally, Apple has updated the HomePod software for the HomePod and HomePod mini to version 18.4. The HomePod software is built on top of tvOS.

You can share how you feel about the new look of the TV app in tvOS 18.4 by telling us in the comments section.
