Apple has unveiled its next generation of MacBook Pro laptops featuring all-new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, bringing significant performance gains and advanced neural processing to the company’s flagship pro notebook line-up.
The updated MacBook Pro models are available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and pack upgraded CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine performance designed to accelerate professional workflows from video editing to machine learning tasks.
Pre-orders begin March 4, with units arriving in stores and online March 11.
The heart of the new line-up is Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon, built on an enhanced semiconductor architecture that delivers faster processing while improving energy efficiency.
The M5 Pro features a high-performance CPU and up to a 40-core GPU, while the more powerful M5 Max doubles down with up to a 60-core GPU for demanding graphics and compute loads. Both chips integrate next-generation Neural Accelerators capable of delivering up to twice the machine-learning throughput compared to previous models.

According to Apple, the new silicon enhances performance across creative and professional applications including video rendering, 3D workloads, compiling large codebases, and AI-driven tasks. Tasks like real-time video processing and large dataset analysis are reportedly significantly faster compared to earlier MacBook Pros powered by M4 variants.
Thanks to efficiency improvements in the new chips, Apple claims that battery life has increased while maintaining sustained performance under heavy workloads. Users can expect longer unplugged editing sessions and extended runtime for developer builds, virtual machines, and high-resolution video playback.
The updated MacBook Pro models also support fast charging over MagSafe and remain compatible with Apple’s ecosystem accessories such as Pro Display XDR, USB-C docks, and high-speed external storage.
Apple kept the industry-leading Liquid Retina XDR displays on both sizes, offering wide colour support and high brightness for HDR workflows. Spatial audio with high-fidelity sound is included, and connectivity options range from Thunderbolt 4 ports to HDMI and SD card support, catering to professional content creators.

Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are supported for faster wireless connectivity, and 5G hotspot integration allows users to stay connected on the go via compatible devices.
The new MacBook Pro line-up offers multiple configurations with up to 8 TB of storage and 96 GB of unified memory, catering to developers, creatives, and enterprise users with demanding workflows.
Both the 14-inch and 16-inch models will be offered in space grey and silver finishes and are available to order now, with shipments starting March 11.
