Apple Updates The MagSafe Battery Pack To Charge iPhones Faster

Apple's MagSafe battery pack can now charge iPhones faster

The Apple MagSafe Battery Pack is the latest surprise Apple is bringing to consumers. Apple has added a software update that has now unlocked secret hardware features. With the new version, 2.7 firmware added to the MagSafe Battery Pack iPhone devices can now recharge faster. The MagSafe Battery Pack will be able to cordlessly charge up iPhone devices at 7.5 watts instead of the original 5 watts.

Details on how to update your MagSafe Battery Pack has been added to the Apple support page. Users can update the pack using the iPhone, iPad, or Mac. The Pack will automatically update while attached to the device, although the report claims that can take about a week. Apple says you can connect the MagSafe Battery Pack to an iPad or Mac and the update should take about 5 minutes.

To update the firmware using a Mac or iPad, plug one end of a Lightning to USB cable into the Lightning connector on your battery pack, and the other end into your Mac or iPad. The firmware update will take about 5 minutes.

The MagSafe Battery Pack is said to be compatible with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups. Although it was released last July, it’s one of Apple’s most liked accessories, however, iPhone users were disappointed to find out it had the capacity to only charge at 5W. The Pack has been quite popular with the iPhone 12 Mini, as users continue to complain about its short battery life. Overall, it’s still faster to charge using the good ‘ole 20W power adapter, but the MagSafe Battery Pack presents a nicer choice for users on the go.

Spot your current firmware version by going to your iPhone Settings, then General, About, MagSafe Battery Pack.
