Argentina, Hong Kong, and Thailand are apparently where Threads will start testing direct messages.
A new feature that will allow users to speak with one another directly without ever leaving the platform is being tested by Threads. Direct messages (DMs) on Threads are presently being developed and will be launched in a few markets this week, according to a business spokesperson. This action contradicts earlier plans by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, who alluded to the integration of Instagram’s direct messages with Threads and perhaps even mirrored chat lists on both sites, which are owned by Meta sites.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms, stated in a Threads article that “we’re starting to test DMs on Threads.” Go ahead and slide through if you have access to it! Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, stated in a later post that since the platform’s inception, sending messages directly on Threads has been a “top request.”
Currently, users are unable to direct messages to one another on the Meta-owned microblogging site. Posts are redirected through Instagram using the Send on Instagram option, but they can still be shared. Commenting on other users’ posts is the only other way to interact with them on Threads.
The Verge claims that Threads will begin allowing DMs in Argentina, Thailand, and Hong Kong this week. Additionally, it is said that the corporation intends to “soon” extend this service to additional places.
Unlike Instagram’s DM list, users are supposed to have access to an inbox on Threads. On both iOS and Android apps, it will be available by tapping a new envelope icon that is rumoured to show up on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Additionally, the web version of Threads’ desktop version will also display the same direct message icon on the left panel.
“We know how important messaging is to supporting our mission, which is to foster an open exchange of perspectives,” Mosseri continued.
This expands on the advertising campaigns the company unveiled last month, which are meant to assist companies in reaching and interacting with a larger audience. They can accomplish this by arranging ad creatives in various aspect ratios in between the user feed’s genuine content, which consists of user postings. Additionally, advertisements will feature a floating action button (FAB) that will take viewers to the brand’s website for additional information.
