Putting an end to speculations and suspense, Apple Inc. has announced that its much-anticipated new headquarters located in Cupertino, California, won’t be amicably christened as Campus Two or Spaceship, instead, the architectural marvel will be known as Apple Park. However, shelving the name “Spaceship” might prove to be a bit of an insider joke given the state-of-the-art circular design of the project that resembles a futuristic spacecraft.

Slated to open its doors in April, the colossal structure, marked by its sleek, ring-shaped, four-storey layout, is lauded as the world’s biggest building equipped with a natural ventilation system. This system allows it to function without heating or air conditioning for nine months of the year, making it a standout achievement in environmentally friendly architecture.

Spread across 175 acres, the multi-billion dollar tech haven is expected to accommodate approximately 12,000 employees over the next six months. Accompanying this massive workforce will be a number of recreational and professional facilities. The centerpiece among these is the 1,000-seat auditorium. Honoring Apple’s legendary co-founder and former CEO, this grand stage is christened as the “Steve Jobs Theatre”. Apple maintains its homage to Steve Jobs, who envisioning such an innovative structure, had described it as “a center for creativity and collaboration.”

In alignment with Google’s renewable energy plan, the park is fiercely committed to environmental sustainability. Apple Park plans to function 100% on renewable energy sources. The building’s rooftop boasts an impressive solar installation capable of generating a whopping 17 megawatts of electricity, rendering it one of the largest on-site solar energy installations worldwide.

However, Apple is not planning to keep this architectural marvel all to itself. Public access is provided to a lush meadow and pond, alongside Apple’s café and store, enabling visitors to bask in the greenery and experience the centre firsthand. The tech giant also emphasizes on the well-being of its employees featuring a 100,000 square foot fitness centre loaded with the latest exercise equipment. Other amenities include research and development facilities along with running and walking paths for staff to relax and rejuvenate amidst the surrounding beauty of real and acritical orchard.

The unveiling of Apple Park promises environmental sustainability blended with workspace innovation, affirming Apple as a seasoned leader in tech development and sustainable architectural practices.
