AI-native apps appear eager to capitalise on the trend, as social media platforms these days are provide users with AI-generated videos. Character.AI is the latest to join the trend, announcing on Monday that it’s introducing a social feed to its mobile apps, where users can create and chat with AI characters. With this help of this new feature, Character.AI’s users will have both the ability to engage with posts on the community feed and create and generate new content through them.
The community feed from Character.AI, a social app driven by artificial intelligence (AI), is now available on mobile devices. The California-based AI startup said Monday that it is now integrating a social feed into its platform, allowing users to publish various types of content about the characters they have developed and have been interacting with. The community can engage with it in a variety of ways after it has been shared. Interestingly, the platform’s website debuted this capability in June, and it is currently being extended to the mobile experience.
First introduced to the company’s web platform in June, the social feed allows users to share their chatbots, videos, and photographs with other users. The feed also allows users to create and share video clips with text prompts and pictures using AvatarFX, the company’s generative video model. Additionally, users can post AI-generated images based on their conversations with characters, share brief excerpts of their conversations with characters, or even have their characters debate subjects live.
The company revealed the release of its AI-native social feed for iOS and Android in a blog post. Users can submit their Characters, Scenes, Streams, and creator-driven movies in one location on our scrollable content platform. One unique feature of Character.AI’s social feed is that users can actively participate by interacting with posts and creating new content, rather than just consuming what’s shared.
“You can view content from our incredible producers and take a relaxed approach when you visit Feed, but you can also advance the plot or start a brand-new, thrilling adventure. No more doomscrolling. The CEO of Character.AI, Karandeep Anand, stated, “We’re bringing in the future of AI-powered entertainment.”
“The distinction between artist and consumer is vanishing with our new Feed. In a statement, Character.AI CEO Karandeep Singh stated, “You can come to Feed for a laid-back experience and watch content from our amazing creators but you can also take the story forward or create a new epic adventure.”
Character.AI isn’t the first business of its kind to dabble in social media: An app that creates videos Pika released an invite-only app in July that enables users to employ AI techniques to produce and share films.
The following categories of short-form content can be posted by users on the social feed. The first tool is called Chat Snippets, which enables users to share a brief excerpt of their interaction with an AI chatbot and highlight its unique characteristics. Character Cards, which are character previews that let viewers start a dialogue right away, can also be posted by users. The social stream also allows users to publish the newly introduced Streams, which allow users to give AI characters a topic and let them to debate, engage in roast wars, and create vlogs.
Avatar FX, a new video generating feature available to paying customers, may also be used to create short videos of any AI character on the site and share them on social media. Posting AI-generated graphics based on character exchanges is another option.
The AI company stated that the community feed will be regulated by the company’s Trust & Safety team and AI-powered text and video classifiers, emphasising the need of preserving a secure environment for all users. Character.AI mentioned that the social feed will support community-based moderation, allowing users to flag or hide inappropriate content.
