During Sendstack’s most recent turnaround, Ifeoma Nwobu, co-founder and COO of the logistics business sponsored by Norrsken, departed. Although the company acknowledged her departure, it did not elaborate. With Nwobu leaving, Sendstack has set a lofty target to generate $1 million in sales by 2025, which is four times its earnings from the previous three years. As the company transitions from last-mile logistics to fleet management, CEO Emeka Mba-Kalu is now in charge of a five-person staff.

Due to scalability concerns, Sendstack shut down DLVR, their delivery aggregator, in October 2024. Since switching to fleet management, the company has incorporated hardware, such as GPS trackers that resemble AirTags, to increase the uptake of its CTRL software. The company wants to generate new revenue by selling 10,000 trackers by July at a price of ₦100,000 apiece.

Prior to joining Sendstack, Nwobu collaborated with Mba-Kalu at Scrader, his now-defunct e-commerce business. She was a major contributor to Sendstack’s public appearance, which included a highly acclaimed pitch at the 2023 demo day in Norrsken. Through angel investors, ODX, and Norrsken, Sendstack has raised $350,000. Regarding the operational effects of Nwobu’s departure, the company has not provided any comments.

Nigeria’s logistics industry has undergone a strategic change with Sendstack’s most recent pivot. The business is adopting a hardware-led strategy in place of software, following fintech models that expanded through the distribution of point-of-sale devices. Although GPS tracking is not new, Sendstack seeks to fill a vacuum in long-haul logistics where shipments frequently go dark because of erratic connectivity by optimizing trackers for cargo monitoring. The business provides a managed subscription service that includes SIM cards, insurance, and support in addition to a one-time purchase option. However, there are difficulties in scaling hardware. The operational effectiveness of Sendstack will be evaluated by using a lean team to manage production, distribution, and sales.

Although the company has avoided further fundraising thus far, financial strain could result from failing to meet its 10,000-unit sales objective. Sendstack might become a major force in fleet management if it is effective. If not, it runs the risk of having no distinct competitive edge and being torn between software and logistics.
