A Sneak Peek into the Leaked Cortana Android App and What to Expect on Its Official Launch

In the realm of regular Windows 10 updates, an exciting development has surfaced. Today, we bring you news of a significant leap for digital voice assistant technology. Microsoft is set to expand the horizons of its AI-driven digital assistant, Cortana. We had previously reported in May about Cortana’s foray into a cross platform application, anticipated to coincide with the launch of Windows 10 OS on the 29th. However, in true tech-fashion, Cortana has made an early appearance in the form of a leaked app, keenly tested by Ars Technica.

Initial impressions suggest that Cortana runs smoothly on a Nexus 5 without any crashes. However, it’s noteworthy to mention that there are a few functional gaps in the leaked version. As of now, Cortana can’t interact with emails, missing out on details like tracking numbers for packages or flight information. Additionally, music listing functionality is absent. Interestingly, features like “Quiet Hours”, which mutes incoming calls and messages when the user is busy or asleep, and the corresponding “Inner Circle” feature are exclusive to Microsoft’s mobile platform for now.

Culminating our findings, it concludes that the app might not perform as efficiently on the iOS and Android platforms as it does on Microsoft. These platforms are equipped with their respective digital assistants, Google Now for Android and Siri for iOS, requiring the user to activate Cortana to access its features. Despite the present shortfalls in functionality, the arrival of a Cortana Android app offers a promising prospect for all digital assistant enthusiasts eagerly looking ahead.
