Microsoft’s Cortana for iOS Now Available for Beta Testing

In a bold move towards expanding the accessibility of its digital services, Microsoft announced back in May that its digital assistant, Cortana, would transform into a cross-platform application. Living up to its promise, Microsoft was successful in rolling out the beta version of Cortana on Android. In the latest development, according to a report by Warenotice, Microsoft has started allowing beta testers to get a taste of the iOS version of the app.

Initially, Microsoft allowed users to sign up for the Cortana iOS beta version by filling out a survey. The survey was aimed at Windows Insiders interested in experimenting with this new application. If you have yet to complete this survey but are interested in joining the ranks of testers, you can fill out the form here.

Currently, Microsoft has limited the beta testing of Cortana to only 2,000 participants. This limitation stems from Apple’s policies, which cap the number of beta testers at this figure for rigorous testing procedures that can extend up to 60 days.

This development reflects a broader trend within the technological sphere, where powerhouse tech companies often leverage their competitor’s platforms to launch and test their new services. This is evidenced when we see Apple’s Music streaming app preparing for a release on Android soon. Similarly, Google constantly updates Google Maps within the app store, making it more competitive against Apple’s pre-installed map.
