In a game-changing announcement, Mark Zuckerberg, the visionary CEO and Founder of Facebook, the world’s premier social media platform, unveiled plans to introduce a ‘Dislike’ button to its extensive network. This revelation was made during an electrifying Q&A session at Facebook’s futuristic headquarters in Menlo Park, California. Considering Facebook’s monumental user base, which comprises nearly 50% of the global internet population, this new feature seems not only appropriate but also necessary.

The feature has been in the pipeline for some time now, with echoes of its demand resonating as far back as 2009. “Scores of users have demanded this feature, and today, I am thrilled to announce that we are finally acting on it. We are indeed on the brink of commencing testing for the function,” declared an enthused Zuckerberg.

Its arrival is timely, especially considering that heavy-hitter platforms like YouTube have had a comparable feature for a while. More so, as Facebook increasingly positions itself as a major player in the video streaming business, boasting a staggering 4 billion views as of May 2015, the introduction of such a function seems both fitting and strategic. In parallel trends, the absence of an ‘Edit’ button on Twitter has even prompted celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian, to publicly voice their need for one.
