DuckDuckGo, the privacy-heavy search engine, has officially released the beta version of its Windows desktop browser to the general public. After years of demand from users, DuckDuckGo has fulfilled their request and made the browser available for download and testing by all Windows users.

“This has been our most requested product for years,” expressed a DuckDuckGo spokesperson in an email statement. “We’re proud to finally make it available to everyone.”
The Windows browser is equipped with robust privacy protections, mirroring the features already enjoyed by DuckDuckGo users on iOS, Android, and Mac platforms. These features include secure password management, free email protection, and blocking of third-party trackers.

In addition to the core privacy safeguards, Windows users can also benefit from Duck Player, a YouTube video player designed to enhance privacy, and a cookie consent pop-up tool that automatically selects the most private option.

To address concerns about transitioning to the DuckDuckGo browser, the platform offers a seamless process for importing passwords and bookmarks from other browsers. Users can easily migrate their existing data, and for enhanced privacy, it is recommended to simple use a password manager.

DuckDuckGo which has some features just like Chrome is committed to continuous improvement and plans to introduce more features in future versions of the browser, including additional privacy options and the ability to pin tabs. Google Chrome currently allows you to group tabs into categories for easy identification especially when you are heavy user who has to have so many tabs open at any give time.

“DuckDuckGo for Windows has come a long way in this short time, and it will only keep improving from here,” stated DuckDuckGo on their online platform.

As the browser is currently in beta, some features may not work as expected ad as users keep sending in back their experiences, they would improve on it before releasing the final public version. In the event of any issues, users can provide anonymous feedback by accessing the three-dot menu (…) near the Fire button.

DuckDuckGo remains dedicated to empowering users with enhanced privacy controls and is excited to expand its offering to the Windows ecosystem. With its commitment to continuous development, DuckDuckGo aims to provide a secure and private browsing experience for Windows users.
