Google’s Video Calling App ‘Duo’ Rockets to the #1 Spot on Play Store

Earlier this week, Google launched its new video calling app, ‘Duo’. Since its release, Duo has been rapidly shooting up the ranks and has quickly soared to the top of Google’s Play Store, smashing a number of impressive records along the way. According to a report from Phone Arena, Duo has now overtaken even the immensely popular Facebook Messenger and the cultural phenomenon known as Pokémon GO, both of which have posted staggering download figures.

Open Google Play on your Android device, navigate to the ‘Top Free’ section and you will discover that Google Duo reigns supreme as the #1 app in this fiercely competitive category. Following closely on its heels are Facebook Messenger and Pokémon Go, both occupying a respectable second and third place respectively. Further down the list, tech giants Facebook, Snapchat, along with the up-and-coming YouTube Music, round out the first page of the leaderboard, underlining the significant achievement of Google Duo in this cutthroat arena.

The app’s success isn’t just demonstrated by its high download rates. When faced against its heavyweight competitors, Google Duo has managed to capture significant consumer interest. This is further reflected in its stellar user reviews. Google Duo boasts an impressive average user rating of 4.5 – significantly higher than Facebook’s 4.0, Facebook Messenger’s 3.9, and Snapchat’s 3.9. This serves as a glaring testament to the user-friendly nature and overall high quality of Google’s newest video calling solution.

As Google Duo continues to evolve and expand its offerings, reports indicate that it will soon support audio calls, taking the app beyond its initial remit of rivalling Apple’s Facetime and throwing it into competition with other video calling services such as Facebook Messenger. This is undoubtedly a promising start for Google Duo, but maintaining this winning streak and staying ahead in the face of stiff competition won’t be an easy task.

So, while the spotlight is currently on Google Duo, only time will tell if this exciting newcomer will manage to hold its ground or climb to even greater heights in the ever-evolving landscape of digital communication. Stay tuned with us for further updates on Google Duo’s journey to the top.
