Facebook’s Potential Venture into the Enterprise Networking Arena with ‘Facebook At Work’

Facebook is reportedly poised to introduce a new service, dubbed ‘Facebook @Work,’ possibly within the coming week, according to TechCrunch. Julien Codorniou, the director of Facebook @ Work, divulged that Facebook is committed to maintaining user engagement with its products. The innovative social media giant plans to implement a pricing plan that charges companies per active monthly user, as opposed to a standard company-wide flat rate.

Facebook @Work is conceptualized as a space for work colleagues to effectively collaborate, brainstorm and manage tasks. It will feature a special feed of posts from peers within the organization—a unique blend of social networking and corporate workflow. Further, Facebook doesn’t shy away from offering an integration of enterprise services, marking its prospective entry into the Cloud Enterprise domain.

TechCrunch compared Facebook @Work to existing players in the field, such as Convo ($9/month), Salesforce Chatter ($15/month), and Microsoft’s Yammer ($3-$24/month). Embarking a step further, Facebook would also include Groups and Messenger in this new service. It will offer audio and video calling facilities, positioning it as a potential competitor to popular platforms such as Slack and Skype.

Despite its reputation as a primarily social platform, Facebook’s consistent evolution makes this leap into the corporate world an intriguing prospect. The social media powerhouse’s huge user community could prove advantageous for such service expansions.

As of now, official confirmation from Facebook is awaited. Rest assured, we’ll be bringing you more details about this prospective venture as they unfold.
