One of the most desired features by users, drafts, is now being made available on the social network Bluesky, as it formally launches the Draft feature. Draft writing has long been supported by Bluesky’s rivals, X and Threads, and is regarded as a standard feature for services such as this one. This giant step shows how the social network is fulfilling one of the most popular requests from its user base.
The platform is now closer to feature parity with competitors like X and Threads thanks to this release.
On Bluesky, users may access drafts by opening the new post flow and choosing the Drafts button located in the upper-right corner, just like they can on these other platforms.
The release of drafts coincides with Bluesky’s recent teaser of its next roadmap. Among other changes, the business stated that it intends to concentrate on enhancing the app’s algorithmic Discover feed, providing better suggestions for whom to follow, and giving the impression that the app is more real-time. However, the business also admitted that it still needs to improve on the fundamentals.
Even while Bluesky has a devoted following, it still falls short of competitors in terms of fundamental features like extended video support and private accounts.
Data taken directly from the Bluesky API for developers shows that since its public launch in early 2024, Bluesky has grown to nearly 42 million users. Given that there were just 40 million users in the final quarter of 2025, the rise has demonstrated how widely accepted the social network is.
Steps on how to utilise the new Bluesky feature Drafts.
- To use the feature, navigate to the “Drafts” button located in the upper-right corner of the post composer (the “New Post” flow).
- Saving a post: Click away or choose the drafts option to save your work if you begin writing but aren’t ready to transmit it.
- Viewing/Editing: To view a list of your stored work, tap the composer’s “Drafts” button. From there, you may either continue editing or remove it.
This new feature draft is available in the latest version, v1.116. What else is new in v1.116?
The Version 1.116 update incorporates drafts as well as a number of additional improvements:
- New artwork for the light and dark modes is part of the updated welcome screen.
- Better GIF Display: Custom GIFs no longer appear as brief videos but rather as GIFs.
- Roadmap Updates: The team is now working on enabling more than four photographs per post, higher upload speeds, and longer movies (over three minutes).
The “Edit” button is still the next huge white whale on the horizon, despite the fact that users are celebrating this victory. Bluesky staff has attributed the delay to ethical and logistical issues.
