For Gemini Live, Google is Adding a Second Language

With Gemini Live, Google is reportedly working on adding support for a second language. According to the article, the tech giant  intends to enable customers to communicate with the AI chatbot in two distinct languages using both text and speech modes. This allows Gemini Live to answer in the same language as the user in addition to understanding what they are saying. According to reports, the first proof of this capability was discovered in December. The corporation has now changed its help sites to emphasize the availability of a second language.

With this improvement, Gemini Live will be able to answer in the same language as the user in addition to understanding their input. Since December, when the first signs of this functionality surfaced, the corporation has added a second language to its support material.

Currently, users may switch between languages in the middle of a statement using Gemini Live, the two-way real-time audio chat tool, and the AI still comprehends and reacts correctly. If the speaker chooses one of the hybrid language types, like Hinglish (a combination of Hindi and English) or Spanglish (a blend of Spanish and English), users may also have Gemini talk in two languages simultaneously with a little appropriate prodding.

Despite being a helpful feature, Gemini Live occasionally fails to recognise the second language even after several hints. The usefulness is further limited by the fact that second language support is not accessible outside of Gemini Live.

At the moment, Gemini Live, a two-way real-time audio communication tool, allows users to switch between languages in the middle of a statement while the AI still understands and responds appropriately.

Despite the benefits of this functionality, there are times when Gemini Live does not identify the second language even after being repeatedly prompted. Additionally, Gemini Live is the only program that supports a second language, which might make it less usable overall.

The tech giant is now developing a settings feature that would enable users to pick a second language, according to a report by the Android Authority. The magazine discovered the capability in the Google app beta version 16.9.39.sa.arm64 when tearing down an Android application package (APK). According to the complaint, by turning on specific flags, the settings option is now available. The publisher was unable to view the functionality even after adding a second language, most likely because it was a server-side upgrade.

Users may also teach Gemini to speak two languages at once with the correct instructions. This is especially useful for people who favour hybrid language forms like Spanglish, which is a combination of Spanish and English, or Hinglish, which is a combination of Hindi and English.

Google has also made changes to its Gemini Live help website. More than 45 languages are now supported by the functionality, which previously only supported 30. Furthermore, the page now states, “You can add up to two languages to talk with Gemini Live in settings.”

As of right now, it’s unclear how Google intends to go with it and how adding a second language would impact the use of other app-specific Gemini capabilities in Google Workspace, the Gemini AI assistant in Android, and general text-based communication with the chatbot. Regarding the potential launch date of this functionality, the firm has not released any information.

The report states that the settings option may be accessible by enabling appropriate flags. However, despite the addition of a second language, the publication was unable to view the feature, possibly owing to it being a server-side update.
