On Wednesday, Google announced that its Gemini app for iOS and Android is now accessible to Google Workspace users. This allows users of Workspace to access the Gemini mobile app as a core service and utilize it for tasks related to organization. In the past, these users could only utilize Gemini features online and in certain applications like Gmail or Google Docs. This move would enable corporate users to utilize the AI chatbot while on the fly, the tech giant located in Mountain View said.

For Google Workspace users that utilize Gemini as a core service, the Gemini mobile app for iOS and Android devices is now accessible as of right now. While on the road, users will be able to do research or obtain fast answers using the Gemini mobile app. Along with creating presentation-ready visualizations of a chart that was drawn on a whiteboard, they can also use the phone’s camera to capture handwritten notes and export them to Google Docs or Gmail. All of this is possible with the enterprise data protections that Google Workspace users are used to.

The business announced in a blog post that Workspace users will now be able to access all enterprise-grade capabilities that aren’t available in the standard version of the Gemini app for iOS and Android by logging in with their organization account. In addition to utilizing the AI chatbot to do research and discover answers to their questions, users may use the device’s camera to take pictures of handwritten notes and export them to Gmail or Google Docs.

Users of Google Workspace may also use the Gemini mobile app to make visualizations of charts that were produced on whiteboards. Users will still have access to all enterprise-grade data safeguards for their online activities, according to the tech giant.

With support for 46 languages, the Gemini app for Workspace accounts will be accessible in 150 countries. Nevertheless, the app does not presently provide all of the capabilities that corporate users may access on the web. For example, users won’t be able to use Gems, Workspace extensions, or file upload.

Furthermore, the Gemini app for Android does not support Work Profile. However, the Google app for iOS, which also features Gemini, would not allow users to authenticate their Workspace account. Installing the independent Gemini app is required for users to utilize the AI features for business usage.

Additionally, Google is making the Gemini app available to all Education end-users. The chatbot will be a core service for those who have the qualifying edition, and it may be used as an extra service by others.

The admin features of the app are offered to all users who have the Gemini app installed and they will automatically have access to the Gemini mobile app. The Gemini mobile app does not have any admin controls. Admins may, however, use device management settings to ban the Gemini app. To find out more about managing mobile applications for your company, visit the Help Center.

To get the Gemini app for your smartphone, go to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

The bare minimum version of the Gemini app that allows you to authenticate with your Google Workspace account is 15.42 if you have already downloaded it for Android.
