Facebook’s Global Ads Chief Carolyn Everson is calling it quits with the tech company. She made the announcement via Facebook on Wednesday.

“I am extremely proud of what we set out to accomplish but way more proud of my team and the support we showed each other, especially in difficult times”, her Facebook post read.

“I always said no one will ever mention at my funeral the amount of revenue the amount of revenue I oversaw. But hopefully one day someone will say my legacy at Facebook was in how I showed up for my team, for our clients and for our industry. I am very much looking forward to starting a new chapter”.

The Global Ads Chief spent more than ten years at Facebook. She worked as the Vice President of the company’s Global Business Group and also worked as a key spokesperson when Facebook was faced with a boycott last year over concerns that the company was doing little or nothing to combat hate speech on its platform.

A Facebook spokesperson in an emailed statement expressed the company’s gratitude for the time Carolyn Everson spent working with them. “We wish Caroline the best as she moves into a new chapter. We are grateful for her contributions”, the emailed statement read.

The company has announced that Nicola Mendelsohn, who runs the EMEA region of the division, will take over as the new interim leader of the company’s Global Business Group. Nicola Mendelsohn is a great choice and she has also been at Facebook for almost ten years which qualifies as more than enough time to take on such a role.

Facebook revealed last week that Vice President of Global Partnerships – Marne Levine would be promoted to Chief Business Officer, replacing David Fischer who called it quits in March.
