The Google Chrome feature, a new feature will create summaries using information from review websites and Google Shopping to assist American consumers choose the best locations to buy by presenting AI-generated store ratings. Customers may access the feature by clicking an icon located directly to the left of the browser’s address bar. This will bring up a pop-up window that tells them about the store’s reputation for things like customer service, pricing, returns, shopping, and product quality.

This new artificial intelligence (AI) capability and feature is being added to Google Chrome to assist customers in making wise online purchases. The tech giant, located in Mountain View, revealed on Monday that when consumers visit a product page on an e-commerce website, AI-powered store summaries would provide pertinent product information. According to the company, the AI program uses data from well-known review websites like Google Shopping. The desktop software is the only way to access this online shopping option, which is currently limited to the US.

This is currently only available in English, the functionality will create the summary based on reviews from several partners, such as Verified Reviews, Bazaarvoice, Bizrate Insights, Reputation.com, Reseller Ratings, ScamAdviser, Trustpilot, TurnTo, Yotpo, and others.

The tech giant explained how to use the new AI-powered store summaries in a blog post. As the previous guide shows, this is only accessible in English in the United States at this time. Currently, the mobile apps do not offer the capability.

Users must click the toggle symbol on the left side of the browser address bar in order to activate the function. Options like Settings, Cookies and site data, and Secure connection are all included within the symbol. When on a product page of an e-commerce website, eligible users will now have access to a new Store reviews option.

The AI tool summarizes the overall feelings and thoughts of people who have previously bought the product, according to screenshots that the company has released. Customer service, product quality, shipping, cost, and returns are the main points of emphasis. In addition, it displays the product’s rating. Interestingly, the window also notes that the AI-generated review summaries are compiled from independent review websites such as Google, ScamAdvisor, TrustPilot, and others. Additionally, users can comment on how helpful they thought the summary was.

Separately, Google Chrome for iOS makes it much easier to maintain browser history for both personal and business accounts. Additionally, the business is making improvements to the sign-in procedure, doing away with the necessity of logging in and out based on the work. The user will now be alerted by the browser when they enter an experience that is managed by the organization. Notably, the business claims that the organizations will continue to have authority over the data and its handling.

Chrome on the desktop will be the first to support the feature. Google was unable to clarify whether or when AI summaries would be available on mobile devices when contacted for comment.

Google claims that the purpose of the summaries is to make shopping safer and more effective. But the functionality also makes it easier for Google to compete with other AI capabilities that the retail behemoth Amazon has introduced. Amazon has been utilizing the new technology to summarize product reviews and ratings, assist customers in finding clothing that fits, provide product comparisons and recommendations, and more.

The adjustments come as Chrome’s hegemony in the worldwide browser industry may be threatened by a rival for the first time in many years.

The search giant is also considering how to integrate AI more directly into its own web browser in light of new AI-powered browsers like Opera Neon, The Browser Company’s Dia, Perplexity’s Comet, and possibly an OpenAI competitor. Google is working on creating an AI agent, for instance, that might take over Chrome and act on your behalf. Additionally, Chrome now supports the company’s Gemini AI helper for Gemini subscribers.

The action is also a component of a larger Google strategy to transform the company into a more contemporary online marketplace good for customers of all types using the platform.

In addition to creating tools for improved pricing tracking, shopping in Google’s AI Mode, and AI-powered agentic checkout, the company has already used AI to assist customers in finding the things they’re interested in, receiving personalized product recommendations, and virtually trying on clothing. At this year’s Google I/O developer conference, the latter two were revealed. Google recently declared that this fall would see the launch of AI Mode for finding room and clothing ideas.
