In an effort to foray into the document scanning space, Google has launched a document scanning app called Stack. Stack was developed by Google’s in-house incubator, Area 120. The app is powered by Artificial Intelligence, and it uses Google’s Document AI technology to scan and categorize documents. The app which was said to have been created by applying DocAI’s enterprise technology to personal documents, will make document scanning and searching easier.

The app is easy to use, and the AI does most of the work. Users just have to click a picture of the document they want to scan in Stack, and the AI does the rest of the job. Stack scans the document and automatically names the document. The app also suggests a category depending upon the type of document, such as ‘vehicles’, ‘bills’, ‘IDs’, and ‘receipts’.  All of this is done to make sure that the storage of documents is carried out in an organized manner.

Stack’s ability to automatically identify important information in documents makes it a cutting-edge application. This takes Stack miles ahead of the variety of other scanning apps available. According to Google, Stack is able to automatically identify details such as ‘due date or total amount due’, and this makes searching for documents on the app faster. Stack was also rolled out with adequate and fully functional security features. Stack protects users’ documents using ‘Google’s advanced security and sign-in technology’. Users can also choose to have extra layers of security, such as making use of the fingerprint authentication and facial scanning features to unlock the app. The app also automatically saves a copy of users’ documents in their Google Drive to make it easier to export them.

Google is known for its cutting-edge AI technology, as well as its innovative applications; it will not be far-fetched if users expect Stack to be a game-changer in the document scanning space. Stack is currently available to Android users in the US. Mass adoption of Stack is expected worldwide, as more and more individuals switch to using the app.

With Stack, Google is going to make scanning and storage of documents easy.
