Ask Google Photos to help make sense of your gallery

The Google I/O conference has taken place and several announcements were made just as predicted. The first from us in no particular order will be Google Photos. Although Google Photos offers powerful search features currently, Google is leveraging Gemini to enhance those features even further. CEO Sundar Pichai revealed “Ask Photos,” a new feature that will launch this summer that utilizes artificial intelligence to establish connections for more complex questions, during today’s I/O conference. This should make the service more wiser when it comes to knowing what you’re looking for.

“What’s my license plate number again?” Pichai asked the app. Right now, looking for a license plate necessitates paging through pictures of numerous different vehicles. However, Google Photos was able to identify which car was the desired one in this case based on several factors, including location, the number of times the vehicle has been featured in images over time, and other information. It then returned the precise number in a text response along with an image that confirmed it.

“You can search your memories more deeply with Ask Photos,” he added, instructing the program to “show me how Lucia’s swimming has improved.” Then, Gemini gathered a large collection of images that represented a child’s swimming instruction for years.

Ask Photos will launch on Google Photos sometime this summer, according to Pichai, “with more capabilities to come.” Since its introduction “almost 9 years ago,” Google Photo has received 6 billion uploads (a combination of photographs and videos) per day, according to the CEO of the company. This shows how indispensable the service has become for millions of users. There are a ton of memories stored on Google’s servers.
