On Monday night, Google revealed by announcing a fresh firmware upgrade for the original Pixel Buds Pro.

This is a release to its first-generation Pixel Buds Pro (released in 2022). The first-generation Pixel Buds Pro will get firmware version 5.11. “Performance and security improvements as well as bug fixes” are included in this release. Today, there are no additional details.

In October 2023, the most recent major upgrade (version 5.9) added Conversation Detection, Hearing Wellness, and decreased audio latency when gaming.

To begin the process on Android, open the Pixel Buds app > More settings > Firmware upgrade. On a desktop, you can visit mypixelbuds.google.com.

When connected to a Pixel or Android 6.0+ device, your Pixel Buds Pro will update immediately if you have enabled automatic updates. During the roughly ten minutes that this download takes, you can continue to use your headphones. When you put the earbuds in the charging case with enough juice, the update will install after it has finished downloading. If there is no indication of an update, your firmware is up to date.

Another step to this will be, when users earphones are linked to a compatible Android device, the firmware will download in the background if automatic updates are turned on. When you insert the earphones into the charging case with a full battery, the installation will take place seamlessly.

For the manual updates, the Pixel Buds app or web app can be used to manually search for and install the update by putting the earbuds firmly in their case for charging. And then on the Android device, the user can use the Google Pixel Buds app; on a PC or Chromebook, access the online version. And thereafter the user can navigate to More settings > Firmware update. If an update is available, the user will see an option available for a manual update and then by tapping this, and following the on-screen instructions, the user can manually start the download on your phone and this takes around 15 minutes.
