Called “Take notes for me,” the tool is now available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in select languages. It works on both the web and mobile versions of Google Meet and is designed to capture key points from meetings so participants can stay focused on the discussion instead of typing.
Once enabled, “Take notes for me” lets Gemini work in the background during a call, with permission from the meeting host. Rather than requiring users to switch between listening and typing, Gemini takes over the note-taking duties, aiming to keep conversations more natural and less distracted.
Google positions the feature as useful across a range of everyday scenarios, from tracking next steps in a neighbourhood meeting to keeping up with client requests during a catering order. In each case, the idea is the same: let the AI organise what’s being said so participants can stay engaged in real time.
Use of the tool is limited to meetings hosted by these eligible users. When the host turns on “Take notes for me,” Google Meet will notify all participants that the feature has been enabled, adding a layer of transparency around the use of AI in the call.
“Take notes for me” is part of Google’s broader effort to bake Gemini into productivity workflows. By handling notes automatically, the feature is meant to help users stay organised without having to manage separate documents or manual summaries during a meeting.
The feature is currently limited to select languages, and Google notes that it can be used right away by subscribers and eligible business customers who host meetings.
