Dive into your weekend with the latest updates from the pulsating world of technology:

Do you recall the rumored Google wireless story we reported on earlier? This week it became a reality. Project Fi, launched in the United States, is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service that aims to revolutionize wireless communication. The service basics, including talk, text, Wi-Fi tethering, and international coverage in over 120 countries, comes at an affordable $20 per month. Cellular data, both within the U.S. and abroad, costs an additional $10 per GB. In a customer-centric move, Google offers credits for unused data, meaning you only pay for what you use.

Project Fi strives to align technology with user convenience. It ensures seamless communication regardless of network type and device. Even when transitioning from a Wi-Fi zone to a cellular network area, your conversation continues without disruption. Further, your phone number is stored in the cloud, enabling you to talk and text on different devices. Moreover, if you ever misplace your phone, you can continue your communication using another screen. Read more about Project Fi here and check out this informative video clip from Google.

In financial news, Google, along with other tech giants, released its quarterly earnings this week. Regrettably, Google’s report fell short of Wall Street expectations whereas Microsoft and Facebook’s earnings were in line with anticipations. Despite satisfying profit expectations, Facebook’s spending was on the high side. Conversely, Microsoft’s Q3 report was impressive, demonstrating a 6% year-on-year revenue growth to $21.7B. Highlight sections included a 44% surge in Surface revenue, a significant 106% jump in Commercial Cloud revenue. Moreover, Office 365 subscriptions reached a notable 12.4 million.

Apple aficionados have reason to celebrate as Apple unveiled its much-anticipated Apple watch. Advertising the launch of this savvy gadget, Apple released three catchy ads. With over 3,000 apps available, the Apple watch App Store promises a diverse range of functionalities right at your wrist.

That sums it up–your quick snapshot of top tech happenings of the week, all in one place. Until next week, happy tech browsing!
