Imagine having a robot that can hear you speak, can listen to
you, see and follow you round the home?

Fantasy you say?

Amazon has created a new robot using the artificial intelligence imprint called ‘Astro’ to perform a variety of functions for the user. The new Astro machine though cannot cook or clean like other famed robots but can help monitor your house, for example check if the stove is left on when you are out or rings an alert when an unusual figures enters the house.

The new machine makes use of cameras, sensors, and AI technology to avoid walls and dogs; with the manufacturing company Amazon emphatically stating that the intelligence of the robot will continue to improve with time.

The robot performs variety of household functions like becoming a casual messenger: having snacks or a can of soda placed on its back to be taken across to a place in the house.

The AI developed robot valued at $1,000, which will be available to users later in 2021 was part of the litany of gadgets the tech giant unveiled on Tuesday as part of its yearly event before the holidays.

A form of theatrics was exhibited at the virtual event when Amazon’s Executive, David Limp while showcasing the sassiness of the machine asked the 17-inch (43-centimeter) magnificent robot to adorn the stage, then asked it to beatbox, an action it did effortlessly, with its round closing and widening as it performs tasks, an action that made it have a human-like feature.

At the event, the company hinted that a limited number of the Astro will be sold, but fell short of providing a number.

Aside Astro, Amazon at the event also made the unveiling of a picture frame-like screen that can be readily hung to a wall, while having Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant built inside. According to Amazon, it envisages a situation where it can placed in a kitchen, availing users the opportunity to see recipes, check their itinerary and watch a show as they cook in the kitchen.

The Jeff Bezos founded company also announced at the event that its Echo listening devices will be adorned in hotel rooms by 2022 to allow guests at the hotels have the leverage to order towels from room service or click a command where it can be asked the fastest way to get to a desired location.
