At its yearly developer conference, Huawei Technologies revealed the HarmonyOS 6 beta.

Executive Director Richard Yu took the stage to introduce HarmonyOS 6, Huawei’s next big release of the proprietary software, as the company kicked off its Developer Conference today.

Developers can now use the updated version, which has capabilities like AI agents. There is no set date for the consumer debut.

The main new element of HarmonyOS 6 is the Intelligent Agent Framework, which comes with the standard design polish, adjustments, and enhancements. It seeks to make communication between you and XiaoYi, HarmonyOS 6’s new personal assistant, more organic and human-like.

Additionally, the company unveiled the HarmonyOS Agent Framework and its CloudMatrix 384 AI rack architecture.

With the help of this toolkit, developers can produce AI agents without having to construct or train foundation models.

Instead of depending mainly on voice commands, the OS should be able to interpret your commands and react accordingly.

There are presently more than 40 device models running HarmonyOS 5.

The ecosystem contains 30,000 apps or mini-programs and over 8 million registered developers.

Like Circle to Search, XiaoYi allows you to scan the whole screen of your smartphone to get results. Huawei demonstrated HarmonyOS 6’s AI architecture on stage, demonstrating how you can ask XiaoYi for assistance in creating HarmonyOS 6 apps or chat with ChatExcel for assistance with your Excel needs.

Touch and Share is one of HarmonyOS 6’s nice features. By just tapping the phone to the computer’s screen, you can connect to a game with your pals or send numerous files between compatible PCs and cell phones (which are not yet known, but may be limited to Huawei).

Developers may now sign up for the HarmonyOS 6 Developer Beta Program, which runs until June 30. To enlist, developers must finish the Huawei Developer Alliance verification process.

The Huawei Mate 70 and 70 Pro, Mate 60 and 60 Pro, Mate X5, MatePad Pro 11.2-inch (2024), and MatePad Pro 13.2 (2025) are among the compatible smartphones.

In terms of worldwide app support and reach, HarmonyOS continues to trail behind Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android, according to Richard Yu, head of Huawei’s consumer business group.
