Apple Launched Its iCloud Passwords Extension For Chrome On Windows

When Apple launched iTunes for Windows, it excited users especially Apple hardware owner who use Windows. Then there was the iCloud sync that allows you download iCloud from the Microsoft Store and then upload files from your computer directly to iCloud without logging in to iCloud.

But yesterday the iPhone maker quietly launched iCloud passwords extension for Chrome. In iCloud for Windows, you will now a “Passwords” section in the available services list. By hitting the apply button, you will see a dialog box open asking you to download the Chrome extension. The Passwords in iCloud works just like your browser in that it saves your passwords so that next time you have to login, you don’t have to start remembering a bunch of passwords across multiple applications.

iCloud Passwords allows you to use the same strong Safari passwords you create on your Apple device, with Chrome on Windows.

This new extension gives you access to passwords generated or saved in Safari and macOS in the Google Chrome web browser. It even gets interesting because the extension works both ways in that passwords you save in Chrome are synced to the iCloud Keychain that stores all your passwords and can be accessed on iPhones, iPads and Macs.

The extension is just another Chrome password saver for those who apply the sync feature and like Chrome saved passwords, you will see the website and email addresses the passwords are save against.

This just marks Apple’s latest integration with Windows even as there are reports that Music and Podcasts may be coming to the Microsoft Store soon. Right now you can access Music via iTunes for Windows which has other services. But the standalone Music Windows app will let you access music libraries directly and may sync with the Music library and profile on mobile.
