In a groundbreaking initiative designed to advance technical knowledge among the country’s female youth, the Ondo State Government has inaugurated a four-week summer ICT (Information and Communication Technology) training program for 100 secondary school girls. This visionary project aims to counteract gender disparity while empowering the girls with critical digital skills.

At the seminal launch event, First Lady Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu underscored the cruciality of training for the girl child. She highlighted the immense significance and urgency of adequate ICT knowledge imparting in today’s digital age. According to Mrs. Anyanwu-Akeredolu, this endeavor is not just about learning, but about setting these young women onto a transformative path, broadening their horizons, and strategically positioning them for the world of tomorrow.

This proactive endeavor comes as a fruitful collaboration between the state government and SAO Capital Limited, a renowned ICT firm. The effective partnership ensures a rich and comprehensive training program that prepares the participants for the rapidly evolving global digital landscape.

The list of participants is a promising ensemble of bright young minds from twenty-five secondary schools across Akure, the capital city of Ondo state. The Public Service Institute, Ilara, Mokin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been announced as the strategic venue for this transformative program.

Governor Akeredolu noted that this pioneering innovation would inspire the girls to envisage and actively pursue careers in science and technology. In his words, “As the world continues to deepen its dependence on information and communications technologies, it has become quintessential for the voice of our young women to be represented in the digital realm.”

Elaborating on the training curriculum, Mr. Tope Runsewa, a representative of SAO Limited, stated that the training regimen would include a comprehensive range of topics such as computer appreciation, introduction to Microsoft office suite, Corel Draw, among other vital digital skills.

Concluding on an encouraging note, the article calls upon the motivated young women of Ondo State to seize this golden opportunity. In a world that’s becoming increasingly digital, such opportunities are more than mere learning experiences – they’re stepping stones to a promising future.
