Instagram Expands Edits App with Templates, Widgets & More

Earlier this year, Instagram released Edits, an in-house video editing program which is owned by Meta the parent company. Also in the same month and same week of introduction it had a hit of 7million plus download which beats Capcut. The Meta-owned business is now introducing a new feature set to this platform. New templates and storyboards, additional customisation options, and an iOS lock screen widget are all included in the most recent version of Edits. The new templates are already available to users in certain countries. Public Reels can also be added to the edits in the video making tool. It also lets users add a secondary colour to the backdrop or outline to make their writing more unique.

The Edits app’s newest features are revealed in a post on Threads’ Instagram Creators account. New templates for the video edition app will enable producers to rapidly create films with time snippets, popular music, and various typefaces. Additionally, users have the option to distribute their own templates. The availability of this feature will begin this week as, it will be accessible to all users globally.

Instagram has stated that additional template kinds and functionalities will soon be added to the app. In certain countries, such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, a special templates area will show up for certain designers. The company has not yet disclosed a claim on the availability of these more template kinds in India.

Also, the Edits app is introducing a new storyboard tool that lets users turn concept stickies into well-organised storyboards. This can be used in an instance, for video plans that include notes, video clips, and teleprompter cues. Furthermore, public Reels from Instagram can now be added to projects using the video creation tool for remixing, reacting, or altering. Every creative will receive credit for their original work, Instagram promised.

More personalised and customised options, such as the ability to add a secondary colour to the background or outline of the text and captions, have also been added to the Edits app with the most recent round of updates. Additionally, Instagram Edits enables iPhone users to add sticky notes straight into the app or set Edits widgets on their lock screen for instant access to the camera in Edits.

Since releasing the Edits app in April, Instagram has improved authors’ options with additional capabilities. Special video effects were added to the platform in October. Instagram added support for Indian fonts last month.

Additionally, there is a stricter control of the integration with Instagram. Reels that are publicly posted can now be pulled by transferring straight into your Edits timeline. The software automatically gives room to credit the original artist, making it perfect for reaction videos or remixes if necessary and by doing this, the user avoid the trouble of manually marking or worrying about credit.

There is also now a Secondary Colour tab on the visual side where users now have far more control over text outlines and backgrounds, making your captions stand out a little bit more.

And finally, iPhone users get some love with the addition of lock screen widgets where there are two choices. When a users opens a sticky note to record ephemeral thoughts, while the other immediately starts the camera. These are immediately stored in the app for future use.
