Instagram Lets Creators Link Multiple Reels in a Series

Instagram has started to introduce a new tool that lets producers connect several reels to create a series. Creators now have access to the new feature.

Instagram, which is owned by Meta, has told a media news agency, TechCrunch, that it has started enabling producers to link several reels in a series. Viewers can now follow and find relevant material more easily thanks to the new feature, which is already present on TikTok.

In the future, a creator may release a second Instagram reel as a continuation of the first or as a part of the same series. By connecting these reels, viewers won’t need to look for additional movies or browse the creator’s stream.

This is a means to save viewers from having to browse or look for certain parts, creators can now connect videos and follow-ups that create a story together. For example, creators frequently encourage followers to “check back for updates” or “come back for part 2.” This new feature allows artists to arrange similar reels for easy follow-along.

This also eliminates the need to search through profiles in order to locate the second half of a reel. If a creator includes links to their videos, you can tap the “Watch Part 2” button under the reel’s caption to go straight to the next one.

For a while now, TikTok has offered a comparable service. To make it easier for viewers to locate an original video, the author can in this instance easily link to a Part 2 or an update. In the past, some creators have had to urge fans to return for a follow-up, but this approach is significantly better.

By selecting the “Overflow” tab on previously shared reels, creators can quickly start connecting reels. Additionally, it enables creators to more effectively group relevant reels together so that viewers may watch them without having to scroll endlessly. To assist, linked reels might also be titled.

The new feature is helpful for connecting disparate story segments, but it may also be used to group related videos. For instance, if a creator is baking a number of fall recipes for a series, they may now organise them all into one group to make them easier to find.

Reels can be linked together by creators by tapping the overflow menu in previously shared reels or by adding subtitles. A new button at the bottom left of the reel will allow people to move on to the next reel once the developer has connected reels in a series.

Instagram claims that the new feature, which was much desired, would enable deeper stories and keep viewers interested for longer, potentially increasing watch duration. Additionally, the social network claims it could help convert infrequent watchers into followers.

Since it makes it simpler to locate and follow content on the site, the new feature is a welcome addition for both artists and viewers, even though it doesn’t represent a significant change.

It is believed that the Instagram community has been requesting this feature for a while. The ability to link reels together facilitates the creation of overarching narratives for content providers and streamlines the viewing experience for content consumers.

It’s a great addition to Instagram’s tool set, even though it might not be an essential tool.
