Anticipation for Apple’s first iOS 26 public beta peaked today, but as of this evening the download button on Apple’s Beta Software Program page still reads “Coming Soon,” confirming that the company has not yet opened the flood-gates. Techbooky readers will notice that our earlier post implied the beta had already arrived; we regret the premature wording and have added a correction banner while we wait for the official rollout.
There is every reason to believe the public seed will appear within the next hours, day or two. In the iOS 25 cycle Apple dropped the developer beta on 16 July and the public beta just 25 hours later; iOS 24 followed 49 hours later. With developer beta 4 (build 23A5297i) landing yesterday, Apple is still well inside its usual window. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who accurately called the July launch window weeks ago, continues to say the target is “around 23 July,” and Forbes notes the company sometimes waits an extra day if last-minute QA flags show.
In short, the delay is frustrating but not unprecedented. Apple’s own site still promises the public betas “this month,” and leaked build numbers circulating among developers suggest the release candidate is already on Apple’s update servers, just not yet exposed to end-users. The moment Apple flips the switch, anyone with an iPhone 11 or newer will be able to tap Settings → General → Software Update → Beta Updates to install iOS 26 and explore its Liquid Glass interface and Apple Intelligence features.
For now, the best preparation is to make a fresh iCloud or Finder backup, enrol in the free Beta Software Program, and keep an eye on the Software Update screen. As soon as iOS 26 public beta is live, we’ll publish a hands-on walk-through—with genuine screenshots from a test device—so you can see exactly how the new translucency, Genmoji creator, Live Translation and smarter notifications behave in real-world use. We appreciate your patience—and thank you for the record traffic the earlier piece has generated while we all wait for Apple to press “go.”
