The New iPhone 13 Smartphones Are Having Technical Difficulties, Apple Responds

Many users are currently having problems unlocking the Apple Watch connected to their new iPhones, with many lamenting that the problem is taking too long to be fixed.

Apple not oblivious of the hiccup has taken responsibility and announced that it has discovered an issue wherein the ‘unlock with Apple Watch’ option is not working with the new iPhone 13 devices.

The tech giant in a document it posted on its support page clarified that there is truly a difficulty in the connection and unlocking processes, positing that users might see the ‘Unable to Communicate with Apple Watch’ prompt if they try to unlock their phones while adorning a face mask or they may simply not be able to set up ‘Unlock with Apple Watch’.

We can hence say the first piece of the puzzle has been unearthed with iPhone producers, Apple identifying the problem.

Then after admitting the problem, what next?

Apple in the document did not categorically mention the cause of the problem but reassured users that the difficulty will be “fixed in an upcoming software update”, but fell short of mentioning a date.

While it may be gratifying that there is admittance by the tech company of the problem and a probable solution, the document raises concerns on how long iPhone 13 users have to wait before they get the issue fixed. This does not appear fair.

Although Apple has just started the testing of the iOS 15.1 beta, it has a well documented history of the delivering quick fixes to technical issues and users may not have a lot to worry about. Furthermore, tech experts are of the opinion that the tech giant, having a good reputation of being pragmatic to ‘fixes’, users should expect a solution to the issue in a matter of days.

The technical issue came to the fore at first when users on Reddit on the r/AppleWatch subreddit complained in various reports that they were facing the difficulty, with a large chunk of the users noting that the issue was non-existent with older iPhone devices.

TechBooky recalls that Apple had earlier in the year released the unlock feature that makes use of ‘Face ID’ with a paired Apple Watch, in alignment with the release of iOS 14.5, with the feature requiring both the iPhone and the watch to have a stable WI-FI connection akin to a turned-on Bluetooth.

According to The Verge, “The Watch needs to have wrist detection turned on and be passcode-protected, and it has to be on your wrist and unlocked for the feature to work”.

It is expected that Apple will rise to the occasion by fixing this problem, to allow its users explore the full benefits of its new releases and the Apple Watch.
