Since its announcement in September, fans have eagerly anticipated the arrival of the Super Mario game on the App Store. As one of the year’s most hotly contested releases, Super Mario managed to launch last Friday in a remarkable 150 countries. Here are the exciting details every iPhone and iPad user should be aware of:

1. Price Point: While it is possible to download and play parts of Super Mario for free, the complete experience requires a payment. This full-blown nostalgic encounter is worth $9.99 or 4800 Naira. Notably, Apple receives 30% of this purchase price, while the remainder is split between Nintendo and DeNA.

2. Gameplay: Long-standing fans will observe that the essence of this iconic game remains intact. The iOS version takes you on a thrilling coin-hunting adventure in virtual worlds, complete with point accumulation and lifeline extension. However, instead of traditional gaming console controls like ‘Forward-UP,’ all you need to do here is tap your smartphone screen to make Mario jump. This newly designed interaction gives players a genuinely immersive gaming experience, somewhat similar to the mobile smash hit, Temple Run.

3. Android Release: Android users haven’t been forgotten. Be on the lookout for Super Mario launching on Android next year as Nintendo expands its reach into the realm of mobile platforms.

Nintendo, famously recognized as the leading console of the ’90s, [unveiled](http://techbooky.com/nintendo-launches-switch/) a groundbreaking hybrid gaming console called ‘Switch’ last October. The Switch console brings together two detachable and one fixed hand controller on either side of a compact screen. Over the years, Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox surpassed Nintendo’s market dominance. However, with a strong push into mobile gaming, the Nintendo brand is experiencing a dramatic resurgence.

The previously launched ‘Pokémon Go,’ on which Nintendo collaborated, caused a massive stir this year. Now, it strongly appears that Super Mario may score Nintendo another massive hit in the mobile gaming sector in less than a year. This indicates an exciting rebound for the brand that is sure to please fans old and new alike.
