Upcoming Windows Store Additions: iTunes, SUSE Linux, Ubuntu, Fedora, and Countdown Speculations

Apple aficionados, brace yourselves – your beloved iTunes will soon make its grand debut on Microsoft’s Windows Store. The music juggernaut is expected to arrive by the end of this year, sporting full iPhone support functionality. It promises a seamless and unruffled experience, replicating the one users passionately associate with the brand. What this means is an open gate to a world of high-quality entertainment through Apple Music and unparalleled access to an expansive iTunes Store.

Over the past few weeks, Microsoft stepped into the limelight with the revelation of its Windows 10 make-over. The new – and marginally rigid – Windows 10 S promptly raised several eyebrows. This light version of Windows 10 restricts users to applications exclusively from the Windows Store. One might ask: where is the appeal in an operating system that prevents the installation of premium offerings like iTunes? Microsoft decided to keep a tight leash on the software that comes in and out of Windows 10 S in its relentless pursuit of speed and security. The trade-off? A little bit of your freedom, for a whole lot of enhanced performance, at least that’s what it hopes to offer to its targeted education and research markets.

As Windows 10 S erases the boundary between the Windows Store and its users, more software developers are predicted to be enticed into designing new applications for it. While the exact timing of iTunes’ arrival on the Windows Store is still wrapped in mystery, there’s an inkling of announcements brewing in this direction.

In addition, Microsoft is gearing up to enhance the Windows Store’s offerings with SUSE Linux, Ubuntu, and Fedora. These sought-after Linux distributions are poised for a virtual debut, facilitated by Microsoft’s unprecedented alliance with the Linux Foundation. This move promises the ability to operate these Linux distributions in a virtual environment using regular command-line entries.

This forward motion creates a fail-safe environment for researchers on Windows 10 S, allowing them to conduct routine tasks without the need to switch operating systems. It is unquestionably an ambitious leap for both Microsoft and the software world at large.

Please note that while all effort has been made to accurately report the upcoming additions and speculated enhancements, upcoming releases may be subject to delay or change.
