MultiChoice revealed the debut of Arcade, a special gaming section within the MyDStv App that provides quick, casual game activities centred around sports and television.
The games are connected to the DStv Rewards system, which enables members to earn entries for prizes like BoxOffice films, package upgrades, and event tickets, in addition to power-ups and in-game loot chests.
For the second season of the popular show Shaka iLembe, MultiChoice has revealed three tie-in games, including Match Challenge.
Players match symbols like spears, drums, and shields in the casual match-three puzzle game Match Challenge to earn points and add time to the game clock.
According to MultiChoice, since the game’s launch last week, thousands of players have signed up and played for an average of forty-one minutes each session, with primetime viewing on DStv matching peak play times.
“The mechanic is straightforward but multi-layered: create combos, use special power-ups, line up three or more matching tiles, and unlock new challenges.” Gems that eliminate entire blocks can be activated. Chase the top spot on the leaderboard by stacking points, MultiChoice stated.
There’s also a clever twist: the game changes and advances as the show goes. Fans that stay current are rewarded with challenges that are only available once new episodes have aired.

The DStv Rewards team teamed up with loyalty and gamification firm Red Oxygen to produce Match Challenge, as well as the forthcoming Warrior’s Run and Mystery Kingdom games.
MultiChoice South Africa’s executive head of client value management, Shaheed Mohamed, stated that the firm was constantly searching for new methods to thank its loyal customers.
“We’re giving members and show fans a fun, engaging, and rewarding new way to connect with the content they love by combining interactive entertainment with our Rewards Programme,” he stated.
“Match Challenge, Warriors Run, and Mystery Kingdom offer an enjoyable compromise between lighthearted gaming and the significance and legacy of this king’s tale.”
Teen Titans Go, Crusher, Triple Hoops, Wagon Dash, and Dodge Ball are among the other games that can be found on the MyDStv app.
MultiChoice’s entry into the mobile game market comes after reports surfaced last month that Netflix’s gaming division was having trouble, as the massive video streaming service removed more than 20 games from its collection.
These followed Netflix’s October closure of its AAA game studio and featured well-known and highly regarded games like Hades and Braid.
Additionally, at the end of last year, Netflix reduced the number of interactive titles from 24 to four.
One of the few remaining shows was the Emmy-winning Black Mirror tie-in Bandersnatch, which was eventually removed from Netflix on May 12.
Nevertheless, MultiChoice has taken a completely different approach by concentrating on casual games that connect to DStv Rewards, even though Netflix’s mobile gaming bets did not succeed.
Additionally, the DStv Arcade is integrated into the MyDStv app, which greatly reduces user friction by eliminating the need for users to download games from their app stores and log in to play each one.
